The Chicago Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, Inc. (CLCCRUL) has launched a major outreach strategy in order to protect and promote the civil rights of poor, minority and disadvantaged people. CLCCRUL has teamed with Chicago-based Openhill and its LetsConnectChicago civic initiative to develop a digital outreach strategy and to build a highly-connected web community called RaceAndPoverty.org. This site will promote the work of social justice organizations, volunteers and donors.
Running on Openhill’s new ClusterSite technology, RaceAndPoverty.org will serve as a main hub to syndicate and share content across a network of organizations working to bridge economic, social and racial divide. The content will be written by those performing social justice work and aimed at a public audience of those concerned about racial and economic parity.
Each organization’s website will be connected to the RaceAndPoverty.org ClusterSite through a widget that displays content from a growing network of participating organizations, with a dashboard that allows each organization to moderate all content displayed into its website. Organizations can post blogs, events and announcements into the main ClusterSite to be syndicated to other participating websites in the ClusterSite.
RaceAndPoverty.org is made possible through substantial in-kind support from LetsConnectChicago, a civic initiative started by Openhill, IBM, the City of Chicago and Monar Consulting with a goal of bringing Chicago closer together.
